The northern Punta Cana sibling to Excellence Punta Cana, and arguably the more refined of the pair. Excellence El Carmen sits on the Uvero Alto stretch — further north than the Bavaro strip, on a quieter beach with less density and a longer transfer from PUJ (about 45 minutes). The score (93) tracks closely with its sister property at a slightly higher number.

The physical product is where the difference shows. El Carmen is newer than Excellence Punta Cana by a meaningful margin, the rooms are larger and better-appointed, and the property layout uses the beachfront more effectively. The same Excellence Group operating template applies — strict 18+, swim-out suites as a category, Excellence Club as the upgrade lever — but executed in a property that doesn't show its age.

What you're paying for: the Excellence brand's value-luxury equation in a fresher building, on a beach that's quieter than the Bavaro strip but doesn't carry the Cap Cana brand premium. At $4,593 a week, the gap to the older Excellence Punta Cana isn't large enough to make the older property the obvious value pick. For couples shopping the Excellence portfolio in the DR, El Carmen is the cleaner book.
