The Caves

What it is.
The Negril cliffs in their truest form. The Caves is a 12-cottage adults-only built directly into the limestone cliffs at the western tip of Negril, scoring 96.3 at $4,147 — the best score-to-price on the Negril cliff strip and one of the better boutique values in the Caribbean basin. The configuration is the product: hand-built cottages, private cliff-jumping access, candlelit dinner in an actual cave, and a room count low enough that staff knows your name by Tuesday.
There is no traditional beach. The Caves sits on cliffs roughly 40 feet above the water, and swimming happens off ladders, off platforms, or — for the willing — off the jumping rocks. Travelers expecting Seven Mile Beach will be disappointed; the property's strongest configuration is for couples who'd rather have private cove access than a long sand strip.
What you're paying for: a sub-15-room adults-only on the most photogenic stretch of Jamaican coast, at a number that beats almost every comparable boutique in the region. The trade-off is the airport — Montego Bay is 90 minutes east on a road that isn't US-quality. For the Caribbean honeymoon brief, the transfer is the price of admission.
