The Ocean Club, A Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Norte

What it is.
The DR's quietest luxury book, and the most under-the-radar entry on the north coast. The Ocean Club Costa Norte is a Marriott Luxury Collection property near Sosua — a coast most US travelers don't think about when they think about the DR, with a flight routing through Puerto Plata (POP) rather than Punta Cana. The score (91.7) is high for a property this far off the volume map.
The north-coast geography is the load-bearing differentiator. Sosua and Cabarete sit in the country's kitesurfing belt — the wind here makes it the Caribbean's best kitesurf cluster, and the off-resort scene (dive operators, kite schools, an actual local town) gives the trip an off-property dimension Punta Cana doesn't have. The property itself runs to the Luxury Collection standard, consistent if not flashy.
What you're paying for: a Marriott-tier AI on a coast that hasn't been overrun by the Punta Cana volume machine, with watersports access no other DR cluster matches. The trade-off is the flight — POP is materially less served from US gateways than PUJ. For families who want off-the-strip and into a real watersports neighborhood, this is the right book.
